Layla Samur was born in 1913, somewhere in the southern parts of africa. Layla was the daughter of shaman of her tribe which got wiped out by another tribe during the WW I (they didn't participate but between 1914 and 1919 the tribes fought, too). the winners noticed soon Laylas strong magical power and wanted to use her as a weapon against their enemys.
They taught her how to use magic, how to cast spells and how to fight with her special abilities.
During one war they conquered an ancient relic. Layla had to use it but instead of increasing her power it increased her lifespan and her resilience (which got revealed much later).
After living 40 years with her captors Layla discoverd (during one of her exercise summonings) that her real parents were slayed by her current 'family'. In a retaliation campaign she annihilated the tribe which killed her family.
Since then she travels around africa as a lone warrior against evil called Inyanga.
